Music "Notes"
In music, we have been working on the difference between beat and rhythm. The younger students have been working on the concept of longer and shorter sounds being used to make different rhythm patterns. The older students have been working on learning the value of the different notes.
In addition to beat and rhythm, all classes have been working on their music for the Christmas program. I am so excited about this year's program! The students have been working so enthusiastically and seem very excited as well. This year's program, "Fact or Fiction: The Christmas Edition" will be performed on December 12th at 6:30 pm. Mark your calendars!
Art
We have finished with our watercolor unit and will not be moving onto a unit in printmaking. Some of the classes started this unit this week by being introduced to the pop artist, Andy Warhol. They listened to the story "Uncle Andy's" by James Warhola and then looked at some of his most famous pieces. The students loved the examples of his work and are very excited to get started on their own pieces.
Computers
4K is continuing to work on using the mouse. We still have a few who tap the screen when I tell them to click on something.
Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grades are working on finding the letters on the keyboard. Second grade is also learning how to do a Google search and how to copy an image and paste it into a Word document. We will also be working on typing sentences and changing font styles and sizes.
Third through 6th grades are working on various levels of keyboarding. Third grade has now completed the home row keys. We will working on this row for a couple of weeks before moving onto the top row. Grades 4, 5, and 6, are practicing their keyboarding skills with the Typing Club. Sixth grade is now working on a "blog". They are creating collaborative pages in Google Docs to practice their keyboarding skills and keyboard shortcuts.
