Trout Museum and Barlow Planetarium Field Trip
First grade's favorite part of this trip was "riding" the rollercoaster through the black hole at the planetarium.
First grade enjoyed listening the the Dr. Seuss classic "Red Fish, Blue Fish" and then making fish prints with sparkling scales.
Green Eggs and ham
We also enjoyed looking at the art created by Dr. Seuss.

Coffee Filter Trees
First, we placed different shaped embroidery canvases under the coffee filters and rubbed over them with our crayons.
Then we wet down the filters and painted them with liquid watercolors.
Next, we cut out the parts of our tree, fringed the grass, and glued our projects together.

A Visit to the Fire Station
On our visit to the Luxemburg Volunteer Fire Department, firefighters Al, Kevin, and Steve taught us about fire safety, how to stop, drop, and roll, and showed us the firetrucks and some of the equipment they use to fight fires. They also let us go through a firetruck and spray water from the big hose. At the end of our visit they gave us our very own firefight hats. We would like to thank all our firefighters for all they do to keep our community safe.

Halloween Monsters
For Halloween, we created some monsters.
For Halloween, we created some monsters.
In October first grade was busy learning to add and subtract numbers through 10. We learned about the different kinds of families. We also worked on our short vowel sounds and some of our consonant sounds.
